Questions to ask

Questions to ask a med spa provider

Take these to your consultation. They help you understand a treatment, who gives it and what aftercare involves.

Good questions to bring

You are allowed to ask all of these. Most providers expect them.

  • Who performs the treatment, and are they supervised by anyone?
  • What license and training do they have?
  • What product or device is used, and where does it come from?
  • How do you decide if this is suitable for me?
  • What does a typical course of treatment look like?
  • What aftercare is needed?
  • What do you do if I have a reaction or a problem afterward?
  • What is the total price, including any follow-up visits?

A short prep list

  1. Your medications, including vitamins and supplements.
  2. Health conditions and any recent changes.
  3. Allergies and past reactions to products or treatments.
  4. Past cosmetic procedures, with rough dates.
  5. Your questions for the provider.
  6. A notebook or phone to record answers and the quoted cost.

Having this ready helps a licensed provider decide what is suitable for you, and it means you are less likely to leave with an unanswered question.

Reasons to wait

It is your face, your skin and your money. You can leave a consultation without booking, and you can come back later.

Slow down if there is pressure to book the same day, if no one offers a proper consultation, if you get vague answers about who will perform the treatment, or if the provider will not give you the cost in writing. To look up a license, ask for the person's full name and license type, then search the Tennessee state board for that profession.
